Questions & Answers
Here are some common questions and answers. If you cannot find the question and/or answer you are looking for, we invite you to contact us.
What is "Put Your Club Online"
This website is essentially an education resource that hosts a series of blog posts written as tutorials. Our content is focused on helping not-for-profit service clubs, associations, and organizations to build an online presence using many of the free or low-cost hosted services available on the internet.
Do I need to be an "Optimist" member to use these tutorials
Absolutely not! Anyone is free to use any of the tutorials hosted on this website.
Is this website related to the "Optimist Academy" website
Yes it is. Our desire is to remove the very web specific tutorials from the more generic Optimist International related content that is contained in the Optimist Academy website. We consider Put Your Club Online to be a companion education website.
What happened to the Put Your Club Online site hosted on Blogger.com
Put Your Club Online using Blogger is still in operation at putyourclubonline.blogspot.com. We have decided to keep that blog running because there are still many Optimist Clubs and Districts that use Blogger.com to host their online presence. Our goal is to remove the older tutorials that no longer apply and provide some new tutorials that make use of YouTube videos.
Is there an example club website that I can look at
Soon. We will be publishing a sample Optimist club website at sampleclub.amsnwoptimist.org. As we prepare our tutorials, we will use that website as the example, so it will grow and change over time.
Who prepares the tutorials
Principally, members of the AMS&NW District Web Services Team write the majority of the tutorials.
I cannot find a tutorial that I am looking for ... can I suggest a tutorial
Yes you can. We invite you to suggest a new tutorial topic and description of what you want included in a new tutorial. All we ask is that you provide us enough information so that we can determine what to produce and when we can make it available.
Can I contribute a tutorial
Yes you can. We are looking for individuals who would like to submit a tutorial. If you have some experience and/or expertise with a particular piece of software or a hosted web service that not-for profit service clubs can use to build their online presence, we invite you to submit your tutorial idea.
